Why Choose a Concrete Imprint Driveway?

  • Exceptional Durability: Pattern-imprinted concrete is significantly stronger than block paving, tarmac or gravel, with a lifespan of 25–40 years when properly maintained. It resists cracking, subsidence and weed growth far better than alternatives.
  • Low Maintenance: Unlike block paving which requires regular re-sanding and weed treatment, or gravel which needs constant raking and topping up, imprint concrete needs nothing more than an occasional hose down and re-sealing every 5–7 years.
  • Huge Design Choice: Choose from over 30 patterns including Ashlar slate, Old English cobblestone, Victorian fan, herringbone brick, random natural stone, Roman cobble and many more, combined with a palette of over 40 colours and complementary border options.
  • Kerb Appeal & Property Value: A professionally installed imprint driveway can increase the perceived value of your property significantly and dramatically improve its visual appeal — making a powerful first impression.
  • Cost-Effective: Pattern-imprinted concrete typically costs 20–40% less than natural stone paving of equivalent size, with installation time of just 3–5 days for a typical domestic driveway.
  • Planning Permission: In most cases, a permeable concrete imprint driveway of less than 5 square metres does not require planning permission. We advise on this during the free survey.

Our Installation Process

  • Site Preparation: Excavation to the required depth (typically 150–200mm), removal of all spoil and preparation of a consolidated sub-base.
  • Sub-Base: Installation of a compacted MOT Type 1 limestone sub-base to provide a solid, stable foundation.
  • Concrete Pour: Pouring and levelling of high-strength concrete mix, incorporating colour hardener worked into the surface.
  • Pattern Imprinting: Applying release agent and imprinting the chosen pattern using professional-grade aluminium or polyurethane stamps before the concrete sets.
  • Finishing & Sealing: Once cured, the surface is cleaned, and a premium UV-resistant sealant is applied to protect the colour and finish and provide a beautiful sheen.

Driveway, Patio & Garden Areas

Concrete imprint is not just for driveways. We install pattern-imprinted concrete for patios, garden pathways, pool surrounds, steps, garden feature areas and rear garden transformations. It is equally suited to domestic and commercial applications including car parks, forecourts, pub gardens and retail environments.

FAQs

Concrete Imprint Driveway FAQs

How long does a concrete imprint driveway last?+

A properly installed and sealed concrete imprint driveway will last 25–40 years or more. The key to longevity is quality installation on a sound sub-base and re-sealing every 5–7 years, which we can also carry out for existing driveways.

How long after installation before I can drive on it?+

We recommend leaving the driveway for at least 24 hours before walking on it and 5–7 days before driving on it. Full curing takes approximately 28 days. We will advise you on the specific curing requirements for your installation during handover.

Is imprint concrete slippery when wet?+

We use a slip-resistant sealant as standard on all our installations, which provides excellent grip even in wet conditions. The textured pattern imprints also help to break up water flow and improve traction compared to smooth concrete.

Can you install a driveway in any colour?+

We offer over 40 standard colours, including greys, buffs, browns, terracotta, red and charcoal, as well as two-colour combinations with decorative borders. During your free survey we bring full colour and pattern samples for you to choose from.

Do I need planning permission for a new driveway?+

Front driveways over 5 square metres require a permeable surface or drainage to a soakaway to comply with planning rules. Our installations are designed to meet these requirements. Conservation area properties may have additional restrictions. We advise on this during the free survey.
